The Story
Allison is a lifelong learner with a deep passion for education and wellbeing. She holds a Ph.D. from Georgetown University and taught Spanish and Spanish Applied Linguistics at The George Washington University. When she became a certified yoga teacher, she began teaching weekly evening yoga classes to GW students, faculty and staff. When university classes went virtual during the pandemic, she shifted the evening yoga classes online as well. Not only did the regulars keep attending, but their family members joined too! Recognizing the need to connect during that time in particular, Allison experimented with weaving optional guided yoga breaks into her academic classes. The students expressed their appreciation and colleagues even invited her to host these breaks in their classes.
Shortly thereafter the idea for Indigo Intermissions emerged: To offer desk-side yoga and meditation breaks to companies during the workday. These breaks or "intermissions" are just one of the options Allison offers with Indigo Intermissions today. Along with workday wellness, Allison merged her passion for teaching Spanish with wellness and offers Spanish tutoring infused with mindfulness.
Allison lives in Reston, VA. In her spare time, besides lovingly maintaining her personal practice of yoga and meditation, she savors cooking, baking, listening to music, reading, writing, going on walks or paddles with her dog, circuit training and jogging.
